Acolytes

“Acolyte means an attendant or follower. An acolyte assists the celebrant (the priest in charge of a worship service) and enhances the worship service to help glorify God. As a minister of the church who is called to serve God, every action is done respectfully and in a dignified manner. Serving as an acolyte is a commitment of time and talent to the Lord’s service.”
—Acolyte Handbook, Holy Trinity Church, Auburn, Alabama

Many assume that acolytes must be younger members of the church to serve. Nothing could be further from the truth! Many adults (some of us older) assist the celebrant during the service. It is a ministry where people of all ages are welcome!
